England moved into a commanding position in the third Test against Pakistan at Edgbaston despite an impressive four-wicket haul from debutant fast bowler Razaullah.
England were bowled out for 453 in their first innings on the second day. Razaullah finished with four wickets from 23 overs, while fellow debutant Muhammad Imran took two and Mohammad Ali also claimed two wickets.
England resumed on 156 for four and added 297 runs for the final six wickets. Emilio Gay made 60 and Harry Brook 75, helping the hosts turn a competitive position into a substantial first-innings advantage.
Pakistan had been dismissed cheaply on the opening day and therefore faced a large deficit. Azan Awais and Shan Masood then began a second-innings recovery before rain reduced the amount of play available.
For Pakistan, Razaullah’s debut has been one of the clearest positives of the Test. He removed several established England batters and showed the ability to sustain pressure despite the size of the total.
